    Blackbird vs Eldorado

According to the website, the only difference between the Blackbird and Eldorado is the gear shelf (and $60). I know the BB gets all the love, but if I'm not married to getting the shelf, am I for sure getting the same hammock (minus the shelf) in the Eldorado?

The short answer: yes. It's simply the same hammock with no shelf.

I love my Eldorado! Never had an XLC, but plan to pick up an XLC winter top, so I guess I'll finally get to experience the shelf.

Shugs video above is what gave me the final push to purchase this hammock and it's been great so far. The stuff sack doubling as a storage shelf works out really well for me. As a backpacker I enjoy things that serve dual purpose cause it usually saves me weight. I think the shelf would probably offer a little better access to get things quickly but when I'm backpacking I don't usually have a lot of things. Mostly just my phone and the battery pack and maybe gloves or buff if it might get cold. Happy trails

    It was intentional.
That is because I clipped it out of one of my trip videos to post on here.

Yeah, I remember seeing the review in a Hickory Brothers trip. It was funny to me cause I was looking into the Eldorado for awhile on line and tried to find reviews on you tube, there were a small amount but nothing that really pushed me into saying yes this is the hammock for me. Then one night I started this particular Hickory Brothers trip report where Shug reviews the Eldorado and he hits all the points I was concerned about with this hammock and it nearly checked every box for my purchase, so I did. It was like a fate kinda thing . So ya, I thank ya Shug and I'm sure Warbonnet does also.

I actually bought the unique Eldorado stuff sack to replace my OG Blackbird's stuff sack. Since I'm carrying one anyway it double duties and I've got twice the storage space. I'm a pretty minimal backpacker but my gear tends to spread out I don't really like double ended stuff sacks so it was a win/win.
