    Dutch CRL with Nama Claws

    Hi Everyone,
I'm looking at ordering the CRL from Dutch for my tarp but would like to add NAMA Claws to it. Im not the best with knots and am hoping this system for rigging my tarp will make things pretty easy. Anyone do this before? Is it easy to add the claws to the CRL? I don't have any experience splicing or anything like that.

    Thanks!

Yep it's my exact system I believe. I have a Dutch hook I have a wasp and I have two Nama Claws. You're going to have to make the system yourself because I don't believe Dutch offers that and if you buy it from Dutch, it will already come assembled (You probably could just chop one in off and add the 9:00 but my opinion it's easier to build the system).
You're probably going to need about 30')of 1.75 mm Lash-It, 1) Dutch hook, 1) titanium wasp, 2) Nama Claws, and some splicing skills. Honestly pretty freaking easy.

Any tips on how to splice at all? Like do I need any equipment or anything for that?

For stuff that small I use wire - sometimes the florist will have it, but the hardware section will have it under bailing wire.

If you buy the CRL from Dutch, you will have to do a little surgery to add the Nama claws. The end of his CRL will have a short end bury, where the tail of the line is pulled inside of itself. This is a clean finish but it makes the end a little thicker and that extra thickness won't allow you to install the Nama claws. So you'll need to cut off the end bury, then add the claws. From there, you could leave it with a cut end, you could tie the end in a knot, or you could make a new end bury. It's one of the simplest splicing techniques and isn't even really splicing. Just Google "end bury backsplice" and you'll find a YouTube video that will demonstrate the simple technique. No special tools required aside from a short length (8”-10”) of small gauge wire.

To the OP... if you want to order the stuff and ship it to me, I'll splice it for you.

Otherwise you need just two knots...

At the Dutch Hook end, tie a Double Dragon. This creates and eye in the zingit with the Dutch Hook captured in it. Easy to tie and untie if needed and holds well in Zingitl

Thread your two Nama Claws on paying attention to which way the face, then tread the Wasp on and then throw a stopper knot in the tag end so your bling can't slide off.

Check out TacBlades video.. he covers both the DD and the stopper knot.

Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

you could just buy this and it will already be put together for you: https://www.autumnultralight.com/pro...with-namaclaws

I've swapped all my ridgeline to this and it's much easier for me to use than the wasp and the dutch hook

I am not familiar with those toggles. How easy are those to use compared to the dutch hook and the wasp? I am looking to avoid using knots if I can.

Just as easy to use, if not easier.
Check out this thread with videos and info how you can buy them from a forum member in good standing. I have the ridgeline from Anne Marie and she's a pleasure to deal with.
