An UQ in that Alabama heat?

Recently purchased an Incubator 20 degree UQ from HG. Curious if anyone else uses a 20 degree UQ in the AL heat?

I am aware when its warm enough it really isn't needed, but I have woke up (after barely sleeping) and was rather cold underneath even in the heat of August (this was at about 4 or 5 a.m.).

About a month ago I was able to get an entire night sleep in another hammock, and I had an UQ (snugpak) that was rather pleasant. But it was probably 45 ot 50 degrees.

Question is, in the AL heat are you able to vent a 20 degree UQ well enough that you can use it in the hot months and pull it up for that hour or 2 of cold that comes in? Or is a 40 degree or 50 degree required to get a comfortable nights sleep and not sweating profusely?

And please don't ask if I change my mattress when it gets warm, I turn on my AC. Haha

I'm in Florida...and I skip the summer months. I use a 40F Phoenix, rather than a full length Incubator for the rest of the year. I think you could still use the 20F Incubator and vent it. I guess hang it a little looser and leave the draft collars totally open?

That's what I was thinking. I don't want to get anything else right now. And I travel north to camp more frequently so I feel the 20 degree will work for everything along with a 40 degree TQ w/ a liner for the colder months.

I will eventually go with a 40 degree UQ, just seeing if anyone has vented a 20 degree and been comfortable doing it in the south June/July/Aug.

For warmer temps, you would be well served with a 40 degree UQ. I have a Zero, 20 and 40 degree UQ for each climate, although over the years I have become a goldilocks camper and prefer to camp during the crisp comfortable 40-70 degree temp range of spring or fall weather exclusively.

Ga summers too hot! I use a 50 or just sleep on an apex blanket. Really can't imagine venting
a 20 enough to sleep. Still 90 at 11pm July and August.

Another option is to push the UQ off to the side of your hammock until the morning chill sets in- then just pull the UQ back under you.

Hi Freddy I grew up in Huntsville just north of you. Spent my first 27 years there. Been hammock camping since the 70's
IMO a 20 degree UQ is a bit hot for Bama summers. I would look into a 3/4 40F UQ they are pretty cheap. Venting can be very tricky.

I have vented a 20 degree under quilt for a few summers but recently bought a cheap one on eBay for summer usage. There are some Chinese knockoffs for $30-40.
