the J-Bend does a pretty good job, but if you're for sure there's gunna be rain you can always tie on an additional rain-break line after the J-Bend on the CL itself

I used that setup a handful of time, so can't speak to long term wear. One benefit of it was that it had just enough friction to stay put without the slipped hitched which made setup easy... slide it to where you think you want your hammock and it stayed in that spot. I ditched the double wookie hook towards the end because it seemed extraneous and I have no problem getting things right with the becket.

I kind of over-engineered the modularity. I use three tarps and wanted to be able to switch between tarps easily.. hence the hook worm (which also helped with vertical positioning of the tarp relative to the hammock. And I wanted to be able to use the straps for just the hammock, with a traditional ridge line on the tarp.. hence the button knots on the prussik slider.

I am thinking of simplifying that whole setup and putting it on ten feet of mule tape attached to some tree huggers. Not sure..

The J-Bend or Beckett will act as your water break. So will the half hitch through the double whoopie hook if use that. As Theguywitheyebrows mentioned, adding a piece of cord is a good idea if you're heading into a storm. I always have a dog bone or two in my kit..
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
