    Prentice Cooper Car Camping

I will be on a road trip next week and traveling through the Chattanooga area. Are either of the campgrounds in Prentice Cooper suitable for hammocks? Hunters Check-in or Davis Pond? Or any other suggestions in the vicinity or on the way towards Knoxville are most welcome. Don't really need any amenities, just a place to hang a hammock and get some peace and quiet for the evening.

    Thanks,

    pat

Thanks Soul Embrace. Cloudland Canyon would be great but I will already be up at the northern end of Prentice Cooper and would prefer to not backtrack too far.

I found Fall Creek Falls State Park a bit north of Prentice Cooper and made a reservation. Looks like a nice campground and can't complain about having a shower while on the road.

Fall Creek Falls is nice. You can hammock camp at Cooper. We had 5 hung at the camp site at the end of the road. Can't remember the name of the campsite. It is free, no bathrooms there, and you HAVE to be in your campsite before sunset.

Well, I am back from my road trip and had some nice pit stops along the way. Spent a night in the Chattahoochee NF near Springer Mtn, Fall Creek Falls SP, Wilderness Road NPS Campground and on the way home a night at USFS Stony Fork Campground. I was sure glad to get back in my hammock after a couple of nights of sleeping in a bed at a friends house. But I apparently ticked off the resident bird at my campsite. He was like the energizer bunny and just kept going and going and going with his ear piercing call. ;-) He eventually gave it a rest in the wee hours of the morning and I got back to sleep. Thankfully I wasn't in any rush and got to sleep in for a change.

Are those walk-in sites? I definitely would like to get back up to that area for a little hiking.
