    Hello from SW Wisconsin

New member, long time lurker, relatively new hanger. My daughter and I have lounge hung for awhile, but recently I've gotten the bug to hammock camp.

Today was a good day, I received my Simply Light Trail Lair, and successfully made my own Collapsahedron (Home Depot price matched the poles). I'm having a little trouble getting the Trail Lair to hang without hitting the poles, but my Grand Trunk hung perfect.

Looking forward to continue learning from this amazing group and helpful members.

How long are your poles? Width of spread at the bottom?
Sometimes you’ll need to customize the hammock suspension with just continuous loops or loops of webbing larksheaded on to get a the proper fit. Standard whoopies can add a foot or two to the “length” when using a stand, which creates sag into the poles.

Wildcat is beautiful, I've been through it several times. I will be working that weekend, may try to get out if I can, thanks for the invite.

    Welcome
I haven't measured everything up. The poles are fully extended to 8 ft. My Trail Lair has it's own ridgeline. When hanging off of just the ridgeline I'm either swinging into the poles about a 5-6 foot spread at the base. If I widen base I'm electrocuting myself sliding against the carpet and getting static shock therapy when getting up. I have some more tinkering to do and some parts on order (broom extensions) in the mail. Going to try and hang it like Jefiner did

I used amsteel continuous loops larkheaded around the tool attachments and through the bases--I fished the loops through with a repurposed paper clip. I did deburr and polish off the tool attachments, but it was easy as they are aluminum. I will set it up in the yard tomorrow, anchor the lines and take some pics. Now . . . it's Miller time!
