New polyester tree straps from strap works

I am using continuous loops and webbing, attaching by using the becket hitch. I got 10 yards of webbing in today. Should I just divide it in half and have 2 15’ straps or make them a little shorter, like say 10 or 12 feet to save a little weight?

I have both 12' and 15' straps. I've yet to need the extra length on the 15 footers; but it's definitely nice insurance to have at a small weight penalty. All other things remaining equal in your pack, you won't feel the difference. If you're going to be hanging on the west coast, long straps are almost a must!

Another benefit of using longer straps is that you can wrap them around the tree a couple times to spread out the force placed on the bark- making it more gentle on the tree.

Every tree on my property is at least 18 feet apart from any other one. I love my 15 foot straps. Depends where you hang I guess...

13‘ and 17', then you have a bigger one for the bigger tree.
