Help picking a new summer bag/quilt

New to the site and heard from another forum this would be the place to get some help on picking out a new summer bag. I have been rocking my old moonstone for years and would really like to upgrade by getting a new lightweight sleeping bag for the summer time. I have a nemo sonic 0 for the winter and love how roomy it is with the girth dimensions being 69’63’56 on the shoulders, hips, knees. I toss and turn a lot when I sleep so I want a summer bag or quilt to be as wide as possible with plenty of room to move around but also want to stay as lightweight as possible. Wanting the temperature range to be anywhere 25-35. I’ve never had a quilt but am open to getting one. So far from what I’ve found the four bags that are around the same dimensions, weight, and temperature are.....

    Feathered Friends Flicker
    Nunatak UL Alpinist
    Both Enlightened Equipment sleeping bags
    Montbell Down Hugger

I have looked at almost every single sleeping bag company there is and have only found these to be contenders but maybe there’s something i may not know of hoping to find something lighter in weight or if not which one of these four would you recommend? Thanks in advance for any help!

First, welcome to the forums BigCountry344. Most of us use quilts rather than bags, so comments may be slow in arriving. Give it a few days to percolate. Meanwhile, you may already know of the site, but if not, look into Phil Werner's site over at https://sectionhiker.com/. He's quite knowledgeable about backpacking in general and not too shabby on hammocks and related equipment too.

I’m partial to quilts over bags - even when I have to go to ground. They are usually lighter for a given temp rating too.
Not sure what the climate is like in your neck of the woods during summer, but if you have some basic sewing skills for $20 a Costco down throw can be converted fairly easily into a great summer quilt. It won’t get you to 25 degrees though - prob 40 degree range depending on how warm you sleep.

If you really need 25 degree coverage in the summer (maybe at elevation), the best deal out there is probably the Econ Burrow over at hammockgear.com. Good luck!

The Nunatak Nano Liner is a great option as well for a great, no frills, lightweight summer quilt. And the people there are great to work with.

i think it depends on the temps and if you are cool/ warm sleeper. I have found that compared to my daughter I am cool sleeper and she is warm. we have been camping and I have been chilly and she was fine.

in regards to size you have to talk to vendors for a custom sized model?

I can vouch for EE's quality and service. I love my Enigma 10. Served me well for 280 miles on the AT earlier this year.
