    how high off the ground

Just wondering how high most of us keep our hammocks off the ground. I used to hang mine a bit lower to accommodate using it as a chair/seat but have started to hang a bit higher lately as that extra bit of height helps create the swing/rocking motion when I get in. I think that's currently one of my favorite hanging moments, that initial rock when you get in and just relax.

I hang at the sitting/breakfast from the hammock height.
Reach down and instigate swing with an arm push on ground.

First rule of hammocking I learned - never hang higher than you're willing to fall.

Second rule - hang your own hang.

I too enjoy a good sway.

As low as I can go without the hammock or uq hitting anything.

I haven't been at it long enough to say what I always do, but have been trying to keep it at sitting height

The tip of my pinky to the tip of my thumb when my fingers are spread is around 9". If I can touch my UQ with my thumb and the ground with my pinky, I try to raise my hammock just to give myself a bigger margin of error.

My sweet spot is between 18"-24" from the ground.

    This...

And once you've actually fallen from that "sitting height" you'll realize that even THAT is too far to fall!

I can't follow this rule because I'm not willing to fall at all.
I hang at sitting level because swing doesn't come in to the picture because I have been hanging in my RR.
