    My new hammock stand

Just made a new hammock stand using two antenna mast tripods and 3' aluminum mast sections. Very strong and easy to put together. Someone gave me all the equipment a while ago and I just thought about putting them together as a hammock stand. All I needed was two 2" EMT 90 degree sweeps to join them together. It comes with a ring that has attachment points for tie downs but I can use them for hammock or tarp attachment as well as adding extra guy lines in case its windy out. It all comes apart into 3' sections. Everything together weights 88lbs so it is not light. Wondering if anyone else has built anything similar using mast stands. hammock stand1.jpghammock stand2.jpgHammockStand4.jpgHammockStand5.jpg

Heavy doesn't much matter for yard stands, and this one hits a home run!
If you prepare for failure you will probably succeed.

That looks like a nice stand. Where did you source the parts from? Was this a kit or something you designed and made from scratch? Well done, and yes, your backyard is ideal for hammocks!

If you click on the picture, the tripod is labeled BlueSky Mast. Looks like they cater to the military.

Yes that's right, BlueSky Mast. I don't think you'd want to buy one by the looks of the price tags on their site but when its free...the price is perfect.
