    Lash-it or Not

I purchased what I thought was 1.75 mm lash-it. However this cord has a thick black plastic coating on it. It is indeed is dyneema, I have just never seen it with type of coating on it before. Has anyone else seen it like this? Seems to make it tough to splice.

Here are a couple of pics of it. The first you can see where I removed the coating.

As far as I know, genuine Sampson Lash-It only comes in Lt Grey. Zing-It is yellow. WesSpur arborist supply the sells blue Zing-It. Where did you get the black cord?

I purchased it from Warbonnet. It is indeed a generic lash-it. WB confirmed it comes with the thicker coating but can be scrapped off easily.

Not the same as zingit/lashit line, but appears to have the same strength. Its the same black stuff you get from multiple retailers around here. Has a different feeling but after some use it's not noticable. It does take a bit longer to get that nice soft feel old amsteel/zingit gets.

Seems just as strong from my used. Holds knots and hardware just fine.

I did have one retailer tell me it does not splice well with zingit/lash-it. Take that with a grain of salt, as I'm not positive what that entails. My guess is a longer splice is required due to a slightly different diameter.
I can verify it splices just fine to itself.
