Maybe take a pink jeep tour at Sedona to get a good lay of the land. Their guides are a great resource of info on places to go. Try some slot canyons north west of Sedona. That whole area is drop dead gorgeous. Try and hike before the heat of summer sets in. Regarding Havasupai Falls, apparently this place books up a year in advance. There are some really cool videos of people cliff diving 100 feet down into the pools below. I'd probably be too chicken to do that now...maybe when I was younger....

In phoenix there is the Maricopa trail. About 300 miles total connecting all the regional parks.

Yep, I'm looking at that, as my daughter is a somewhat cautious and inexperienced hiker. We'll probably just be day hiking anyway, nothing overnight at this point.

So I have a whole section of my Youtube channel dedicated to Arizona trail guides. You can tell from the videos which are good hanging spots:

I just got back today from a week in AZ. I used to go there for business and drove by Camelback all the time. It is literally in the city (ok directly between Phoenix and Scottsdale) and wasn’t my thing.

For an easterner like me I LOVED all the access near by to National Forrest’s. They are the bombdiggity! You can make up hikes there as you like but you need to plan a bit and a map and ability to navigate ( and water!!) are a must.

I spent five days in Sedona and the surrounding National Forrest’s. It was wonderful, beautiful and lovely but can be VERY crowded. I did some days hikes in West Sedona and in Coconino National Forrest that were great and not crowded at all. That’s said the “big name” trails were busy and hard to find parking.

Lots and lots of options but Sedona is breathtaking and worth the trip from Phoenix IMHO.

Great set of videos. Im going to be busy for awhile watching them all.

I am planning to thru hike the Arizona Trail next March/April. I see some of your videos cover different passages, especially the Grand Canyons rim to rim. Very helpful.

You mentioned you will be going to Havasupai Falls in the near future. In case you aren't aware, it's permit only and they are tough to get - sold out on day one each year. No day hikes allowed. It's worth the shot to try to get a permit. I'm lucky enough to have been twice.

Enjoy hiking AZ. Come join us at the spring hang next week - the thread is up with all the info.

Thanks, Kurt. I should have mentioned that I've watched several of your excellent vids.
