    The Bruce Peninsula trails

My family will be heading up to the Bruce Peninsula this summer for a couple days. I am trying to decide what the best shortish (under 10 miles) trails would be to take for a hike with at least the older 2 kids. Ages 7 and 10.

We will be staying right on Spry Lake.

    Any recommendations?

Not exactly close to Spry Lake but if you are going to be up there you should definitely check out The Grotto https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/on/bru...riences/grotto

There are a few trails in the National Park that would be suitable for a day hike.

Sauble Beach / Sauble Falls is worth checking out

Friends of mine had a cottage near Spry, was there years ago and Sauble Falls were great for tubing. Awesome sunsets along that stretch of Lake Huron.
Hope you have great weather and few bugs.

I'll have to see if we can fit that into the schedule. Looks like a nice area to check out.

That looks like it's on our way to where we are staying. Should be able to check it out.

How's the fishing on Spry? We will have a canoe to use and I was gonna get a 1 day license.

It's all beautiful there. You can't go wrong. If going to the Grotto be certain to make a reservation of you don't go in at all. The trails run up and down the east side of the peninsula - again, all are good for hiking. Half Log Dump (by memory) leads to some spectacular views and rock formations while being suitably safe for kids.

I hiked the last 60 or so miles of the Bruce Trail a couple years ago. Do not miss taking the ferry out to Flowerpot Island. You can even camp there. We did and had the whole island to ourselves after the last ferry of the day.

not sure your trip timing as far as what is in season.

Inland waters are zone 16 - Lake Huron proper is Zone 13

    hope that helps!

If youre looking for something a little closer,I would suggest LIONS HEAD, one of my favourite areas.
No signs,no fees,no rules, nobody. My kind of campsite.
