    Hammock Size question

Is it possible to for a 11ft, WIDE dutchware hammock to be too big for me and adversely affect my sleep? I am 5'8. Maybe some people like their hammock to be on the larger side? Thanks.

I suppose it is possible. I am doubtful that it's probable. I am 6 ft and my hammock is a 12-footer that is 6 ft wide. I can't imagine it being worse as a bigger hammock - I do know from personal experience that a 9-ft hammock is just too **** small to even try to sleep in

You never know until you try. I'm 5'9" and a 10'x64" DH Darien (1.2 Robic) is extremely comfortable for me, and a 10.5'x58" DW Half-Wit (1.0 Hexon) is surprisingly good as well.

But nobody can predict what will work best for you. And even if you jump into a hammock and it feels great right off the bat, you still won't know until you've spent at least full night in it.

im 5' and my hammock is a Dream Hammock Sparrow and it is 11' long and is made out of hyperD XL (unfinished width is 76") made as wide as possible and I love it. I have a 11'x60" hammock that I find not as comfortable, I just prefer wider hammocks

That's a perfect size if you like it I personally didn't like the wide version as there was too much material on the sides otherwise that a good length for nearly every height.

My thoughts, too. I am 6'2" and in my own evolution of hammock use I have found I really prefer wider hammocks. Not necessarily the widest but those 62-64" and wider.

    Hammock Size question

I'm 5 foot 7 and I like a 62 inch wide hammock. 58 inchs wide is just a little restricting. I'd think that a wide hammock from dutch would be too wide for my enjoyment - lots of excess fabric flopping around. Have you tried a standard width 58 inch wide hammock? What are your thoughts on that? As always, hammocking is very personal, so you should try to get first hand experience when you can.

Comfort as far as just lying is concerned should not be affected negatively by a wider hammock. Fabric is far more influential in this case. Of course other factors might worsen your overall experience. Some people seem to be bothered by "floppy fabric", which becomes more noticeable in wider hammocks. More fabric also means more weight. I'm only 5'4", but I greatly prefer hammocks that are wider than 60". When weight is not an issue, I use hammocks as wide as 77". When it is, I'll go as narrow as necessary.
