Advice on making a copy of MLD FKT quilt.

I have decided to make a synthetic insulation top quilt out of Apex insulation. I have chosen Apex over Primaloft because of the quilting necessary for the PL. I have never worked with Climashield Apex before but everything seems fairly straightforward except for the transition from the 2.5oz to the 3.6oz Apex.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to keep these 2 separate pieces together inside the quilt?

Here is the FKT quilt I would like to mimic

I would think that you could butt the pieces up against each other and lace them up like a pair of shoes.

I would overlap them at the joint and probably use a little spray adhesive, letting it fully set before applying the fabric. I think you want a good physical joint between the two pieces of insulation, and anything that could result in them separating would allow cold air to pass through. It doesn't take much as anyone who has had their down shift can attest.

Yes, I’m concerned about any gap.
As I am typing I am thinking maybe it would just be better to use 1 continuous piece of 2.5 and another piece of 2.5 over the leg area. That way there could be no cold spot.

I think I would stitch one half of the insulation to the quilt inner and the other the outer with a good couple of inches of overlap

As long as the stitch lines don't line up you should experience no loss of insulation.

I think that would be a good way to go.
