    Yates Place hang thought

One of the things I like about hammock camping is our community.
We know the names of many of our vendors - Brandon, Dutch, Paul, Paul/Missy, Keith, Adam/Jenny, George, Jared, Kyle, etc.
We lost one of our North Carolina brethren last year - Marty at Wilderness Logics. I’m not sure how but thought we should somehow recognize him.

Maybe change the name of the hang or something to include Marty or Wilderness Logics?
Or maybe we all rock Wilderness Logics gear?
I don’t know... just had the thought today. I’m not the creative type so maybe somebody else can help.

I didn’t know Marty personally... but think about him when I’m laying in my Lite Owl or using his summer UQ or pole extenders on the SuperFly. Never had one complaint on any of his gear - it just always works.

We lost a PSH hanger, Firemedic, right before Frozen Butt. We hung a hammock in his memory and hung a candle lantern (with a battery tea light inside) from the ridgeline. Folks were welcome to lay in the hammock and remember our good times with him. Maybe something like that for Marty.

    What a great idea TallPaul.
If you or any of the NC hang planners need something from hammockforums please contact me Deb or Rick. I'd love to be able to help in some way.

@Junebugdawn I did not know about the loss of firemedic. What a great tribute to him.

Paul, I was talking to one of Marty's hiking-camping-relatives, and he mentioned having a memorial hang for Marty sometime this fall. If I hear anything else I'll let you know. There are several friends of Marty that are interested. Marty was a special person to a lot of friends and family.
