    Hi From New Jersey

New to this forum, I have been using standard Hammocks for camping and just recently received a Amok Draumr XL (lay Flat Hammock) with all the bells and whistles.
One question I have, can anyone recommend a hammock stand that I can use in the back yard? any suggestions would be great.

    thanks Bill_NJ

Welcome to the forum! I’m in Delaware now but originally from Freehold, NJ.

There are a number of different options for stands...definitely check thru some of the threads on the forum for reviews and suggestions.
I don’t have any suitable trees for hanging in my yard so I have a Tato stand that I purchased and have also managed to build a DIY pipe stand using galvanized pipe and connectors (I use this one indoors but it’s also suitable for outdoor use). I’ve also looked at building or buying a Tensahedron stand - just to have another option available.

Welcome to both the forums and the Amok tribe, Bill. I saw a YouTube video the other day where someone (probably someone around here) had a homemade stand he built from lumber to hang his Amok XL on inside. Pretty certain I saw him point to a video on how to make it, too. I will try to find it again and post it if I can.
Oooh, shiney! What does THIS button do?

Welcome from a fellow NJ prison.. err resident...

If you'd like to get to know other hammockers I heartily recommend checking out the trip planning threads for Northeast. Hubby and I happen to love Maine, so headed up there in a few weeks, but there's a well known hang in central PA first weekend of May I believe.

    Enjoy!

Welcome, I have a paddle trip set up on the Mullica April 27, still room to join. 3 of us already, I'm a newbi and just bought a Ridgerunner. One of my old bosses from the late 80's was from Freehold. Actually 2 of them. Guessing they are in their late 60's now since I'm 58. Wall street boys, Jimmy and John. Would be a small world if you knew them.

Welcome to Hammock Forums. I built a turtledog hammock stand that works great for my gathered end hammock but I am not sure how well it will work with a Amok Draumr hammock.

Welcome to the forums, Bill_nj, from a guy in the southeastern part of the country. If you've got the room and the inclination to do it, a permanent stand with posts set in concrete is wonderfully stable. There are numerous threads here from people who have done so. It's a bit of an undertaking and requires that you know exactly how much distance to you need, since the posts are going to be there a long time. But if you plan it well, you end up with a stand in which you can have a lot of confidence hanging on.

Grunt, Nice video, I saw others like it and I think I will try and build one too.
