I'll be in the Adirondacks next Friday night, going to camp somewhere before heading to a cabin in Wallingford, Vermont. We're probably just going to go to a DEC campground. Moose River Plains does have some great sites, but those roads can really put a beating on a vehicle. haha.

I'll be heading in to Stillwater Friday the 27th-29th. Probably get there early morning and have breakfast at the Inn.

Anyone have any experience camping at Lewey Lake and want to recommend a site for two hammockers? Looks like site 9 is a "hike in", and it looks promising to me.

I have been to Lewey, I had to squeeze into the woods to set up my hammock at site 082. I now usually try to get two adjacent sites so I have more options without encroaching towards the neighbors. I am considering building a stand which attaches to my trailer hitch and will support one side of the hammock, then I will only need one tree. I will have to remember to take it down before driving away.
Nice CG, I cannot comment on good hanging sites but they do have decent showers and a pot and pan washing station. I am suspecting that you saw site nine pictures on that photo site, yes nine does look promising. If you have a canoe or kayak, you can paddle up into the Miami river, that's a nice side trip.

Thanks for the reply. We don't have a kayak or canoe, sadly. We have stayed at Meacham Lake a couple times in the "west" area of the campground, it's fantastic for hammocks. We're considering driving up there again just to see more leaves. There are tons of available sites, but sadly the western section is closed for the season. I did see the pictures of Lewey on that adkcampground photo site. The person who is running that site is doing a great service.

Wife came down with something so I will have to stay close to home, praying for a speedy recovery and I can make it last minute.

    Very nice pictures.

I lost the left front wheel bearing on the f-350 on the way home from the Dump. got the whole axle tore apart for all new internals.

Wife and I are going to cruise the daks in the Rogue this weekend. At or just past peak in the northern part? Maybe we can plan an early spring get together?

I would say you should be at peak color. Maybe a week later at best. If you go to Stillwater I'd say try for #8. Good for hammocks, nice beach and isolated from the motor boat noise a bit. # 9 is a terrible site and the farthest but also nice is #23.
We will get a group hang organised. I'd be up for getting an "Ice Out" trip together. The only issues I'd have is to not plan a trip for the same time as my Ice out trip from Canada. Unfortunately you can't completely plan Ice Out. It's up to Mother Nature.
    Have fun paddling!
