Double layer hammock with a sleeping pad: diagonal lay?

I'm pondering a double layer hammock, possibly a Dutch half-zipped, as a budget upgrade that would be versatile in most Texas conditions. If you use a sleeping pad, can you a) get a diagonal lay on it, and b) still use an UQ if it gets a bit nippy? I have an ENO UQ that's rated to about 50.

So based on Shug's video it seems you can not only get a diagonal lay but it would also be possible to combine with an under quilt
