1st Real Backpacking Hammock - Warbonnet Blackbird

To paraphrase D-Day from Animal House, War's over, man. supertaco dropped the big one.

Went in for a Warbonnet Lightweight Double Blackbird w/Becket Suspension + FishHooks this afternoon. I have a backpacking tarp which will work just fine for my initial hammock tarp. Might go with a pad on the first trip if my son is with me. Otherwise, I will borrow his under quilt.

Seems like a good quality down the middle choice and probably has good resale value if things don't work out. Looking forward to getting off the ground!

While I never posted aside from here and my introduction, I do appreciate the depth of knowledge from folks here. Thanks for the time and diligence posting and recording experiences. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute meaningful information in the near future.

    Welcome and a wise choice.

One word of warning - once you try an Underquilt you’ll find it hard to go back to a pad!

Great choice and now get that under quilt to complete the golden move from the ground to the air.

OK, peer pressure pushed me over the edge I ordered an economy 40 deg full under quilt from Hammock Gear. Unfortunately it seems that there is a 5-6 week lead time on these. So my first experience may very well be with a pad. Oh well. I suppose it will prove to be quite an upgrade once I experience both. Thanks for the advice!

I have a WBBB ... also the WBRR ... but use the BB more. Have an UGQ Zeppelin ubderquilt ... works very well here in Michigan and Arizona Rim country.
