Hendersonville NC area.... anyone 'round?
Da elfLiza and I will be moving into our new home up above Columbus NC [on Tryon Peak/Skyuka/White Mt.] next week.
Looking forward to using the whole western NC mountains as a playground for my second [third?... fourth?] childhood.
Who's in that area to live or vaca ?

In Lancaster, SC - a little over 2 hours ride southeast of Columbus. Tall Paul has hiked a lot of trails in the area...look for his YouTube videos - https://www.youtube.com/user/croxton99/videos

Flash - The John Rock hang is practically in your backyard
Panthertown valley is just past Brevard - wonderful waterfalls. Good to have a GPS or app cause it isn’t well marked. Ran into a bear last year.
Shining Rock - love it. Or lessor visited Flat Laurel creek or Middle Prong Wilderness.
Mountains-To-Sea trail - I did most of the mountain section last year. Lots of nice places and about 95% less traffic than the AT (though the parkway isn’t ever too far away).
Linville Gorge - easy access to Wolf Pit trailhead and up Shortoff mountain. Or the west side.
Well... I could go on. Wish I was up there now.
Used to spend time up in the Asheville/Hendersonville area when I was in the SC Upstate. Gorgeous area with a lot of outdoors stuff to do. Lots of history, too. You will have no problem finding things to do around there. If you find yourself in Asheville and you like BBQ, try 12 Bones. If I was in town, I tried to make it there.
