Same here. I soak large items and spray small items with the leftover. I find soaking less time consuming and easier over all.

Soak or spray, I end up hanging everything anyway, so that's a wash. Dumping items in a bucket and then a garbage bag overnight gives me plenty of down time while I wait and is less work than all that bottle squeezing. Makes my hand hurt just thinking about it!

The pump up style garden sprayer works a treat. Pressurize the jug with several pumps and then it's just one thumb button for continuous flow. I'm a hang and spray guy, myself, obviously. I hang all my gear up in the basement and go to spraying town.

Also, the "wasted" permethrin treats my basement floors, so no unwanted visitors stick around very long!

And I have a lovely garden. How did I not know about such things?!?

Ahhh, yes, I did notice the benefits of spraying in my basement last time I did some clothes and small items. Poor little critters. No mercy!

I use a spray bottle but I do it in the garage. I lay the items out on a blue tarp to spray, and then hang to dry. I would certainly use much more if I soaked them in a bucket. A quart after mixing sprays multiple hammocks, bug nets plus clothes, the camp chairs and anything else I can think of with some left over.

I only do the spray. I hang the hammock up in my garage, open the garage door, and soak the hammock down with the sprayer. Let it dry for an hour or so, load it back up, good to go for the season. I do the same for my backpacking clothes. Those you have to respray every three washes or so. I don't spray my other gear, because what's the point in that? I don't care if skeeters bite my backpack.

I've only used the spray, and I only spray the bug net of my hammock. I also spray all worn clothing- even socks.

Do you care if you set your backpack down or brush up against bushes and ticks hitch a ride? Chiggers?

Lay your clothing, shoes, whatever on top of your hammock, etc. when you spray your clothing, shoes, whatever. Your hammock gets treated "for free" or so to speak.
