I just drove down today from Maine by way of Bristol/Tri-cities and Asheville. Looks pretty do-able to me.

Debbie, I have to bail again. Not to go into details, but Carol is having surgery on June 3 , and will have a fairly long recovery time. This is not the C word, but serious enough. We are both saddened by not getting to come. I hope this makes a place for someone else to enjoy the festivities.

This sounds like a blast. It will be a nice break from my AT hijinks, and I look forward to seeing some familiar faces again. I will have my two sweet dogs with me. I will contribute to food, but that is TBD later. I will also be willing to cook or assist with any food prep.

Dennis Cove gap is amazing. I haven't been to Dennis Cove rec area, but the gap has everything desired. It's quiet, along the river, tons of trees, and a short 1.5 mile hike to the falls. It has been my favorite gap along the AT.

Carver's gap is much closer to Roan from my understanding as Dennis Cove is by Hampton and Carver's Gap is by the Roan Mountain city. Hikers heading north hit Carver's gap after Roan Mountain, as Dennis Cove Gap is forty miles away on the trail. Of course, I don't know where this campground is....

I wish I could come, but this year, I'll be bonding with my son, Levi, whom we are adopting from China in May. This is one of my favorite events.

Ok, but we hope to see him in the woods once he gets settled in.
