We went on a modified sailing adventure (Sea Base had trouble keeping sailing captains that summer) where we sailed for half the week. We are a hammocking troop (about 30 scouts and 7 leaders - maybe 4 kids and 2 adults sleep on the ground). I brought my hammock the first time we went to Sea Base (fishing adventure) and never used it. I didn't take it the second time and didn't see a chance to use it anywhere. For the sailing adventure, we were sailing on the captain's personal boat, and he was rightly rather protective of it (not overly so or anything, but I wouldn't have even thought of asking him to hang from his boat).

Bringing a Tensa Solo pole has greatly opened my hanging options while kayaking. I no longer have to find those "two right trees". I just need one "natural" attachment point and the ability to have a secure anchor. Admittedly, the "secure anchor" has become the new challenge. You might be dealing with sand, marble-sized pebbles, loose dirt, etc. But experience will teach you how to handle those options.

You may be able to find a place to hang a hammock on larger boats or ships, but finding one that doesn't restrict the movementłof others will be nearly impossible. It's a safety thing.

I'm always looking when I go boating but forget about my solo pole.

I made a tensahedron with the fencing pipes, it works great and comes on family vacations when we have a rental or the 4WD beach. The tensahedron works well but this single pole version would be much easier to pack. have you ever tried it using sand anchors?

I have, but not in dry loose sand. I'll have to wait until I'm in Florida again and find some dry sand, it was mostly wet the last time I was there.
I have used sand stakes in several other places in Florida while kayak camping.

For "loose sand" stakes you might have more success using bags. Somewhere during this lifetime, I acquired nylon bags with rugged sewn straps/handles. If filled with sand and buried in the sand they might be strong enough. My last epiphany was when I used a picnic table as an anchor. It worked fine when I used picnic tables on dirt/grass. But the last table was on a pebble beach. i probably just needed to anchor the table itself - nothing major; just something to discourage its propensity to slide.

Real sand stakes can be attached in the middle and buried sideways as well, just make sure the guylines are trenched so that they don't pull the stake up instead of sideways.
