Question Trail Lair: Are the Sides Cat Cut?

Are the Trail Lair sides Centenary Cut like the Streamliner? In the photos it looks like the sides are low so that when laying in the hammock you'd get a good view out the sides without needing to sit up much.

Has any one tried both, how do they compare regarding viewing the outdoors whilst laying in them?

although I cannot comment on if the sides are cat cut, when I first laid in my Trail Lair I thought why aren't all hammocks designed with sides like this?? So yes you really notice the spacious views. And for me it's as comfy or even slightly more than my XLC.

I have both. I don’t think it’s as noticeable as the Streamliner, but it’s more open than other hammocks I’ve used.

The Trail Lair does not have cat cuts. What your seeing with the trail lair is the way jared cuts the bug net which gives it that illusion. The streamliner is the only hammock that has cat cuts in Jareds hammock line up. Hope that helps

I talked with Jared when I bought my last couple hammocks from him. He said that the Trail Lair and Tree runner start with the same body. He said they both begin as a rectangle and that his streamliner is the only one that is catenary cut. I have a Trail Lair and a Tree Runner but I had a Streamliner as well and it didn't suit me. I couldn't get used to the sides being so taut when I got in and out of the hammock.

Thanks for the extra confirmation. I’m interested to try it. I know it’s not for everyone and that’s good info to share.

You can't go wrong with a trail lair , tree runner & voyageur. All three are based off the tree runner hammock body & all have the same comfort. As mentioned above, the streamliner is light but it does hurt to get in & out of. Its a great day hiker hammock but i prefer different hammock to sleep in overnight.
