When you’re at a Troop family camp event & you’re back hurts...

I tweaked my back about two days ago and it hurts to lay in a bed. Even in my own bed it hurt unless I was on my side, and if I shifted, watch out!

My son and daughter’s troops had a family camping event at a church run camp with cabins (think bunk houses for boys/girls).

One side of the boys cabin was clear...so I improvised.

Gotta say I’m really glad I did. That’s a new TCF taffeta with an older AHE New River UQ in a bunk house. Was great on my back. The mattress underneath was a suggestion by another dad. I didn’t need it, but a good idea!

I’m camping with my Cubs this weekend, and I REALLY wanted to use my new Chameleon. Only problem is the property we’re camping on is nothing but timber pines, in perfect straight rows, with widow makers EVERYWHERE, and the few hardwoods are WAY too far apart.

You know there are several hammock pipe stands out these days designed for the 11' hammocks. No tree needed.

I do, but I haven’t been able to invest in one yet. I’ve got an old turtle dog stand that I built a few years ago, but I haven’t used it in a while, and I didn’t really have room in my vehicle to carry it.

$25 and an hour to make one. A few skipped sodas a week will pay for it.

Do you have a link to plans for said stand? I liked my turtle dog, but it was so large that transporting it was a problem. $25 is no issue, it’s the ones I’ve seen factory made that are near $200 that I haven’t wanted to drop the coin on.

Is there away you could modify your current stand to make it more portable?

You could make a DIY Tensa4 with some paint extensions (4-8ft) and some lashing. If you use the steel poles it’s even cheaper.

You're group must be more calm than my son's. I would gaurantee that several would run into it at night in our bunkhouses that we stay in.
