    Calendered fabric for hammock?

I goofed... I order a few yards of calendered Hyper D 1.6 for the next DIY hammock.

How would calendered fabric respond to use in a hammock?? I am thinking it will be stuffy given its' less breathable.

What other projects lend themself to calendered fabric, now that I have it??
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Down quilts require calendared fabric to be down proof. I wouldn't worry about using it for a hammock.

Doesn't feel like it will be too comfortable to sleep on. It feels like a plastic trash bag.

That’s the angle I was thinking of as well. My quilts with calendared fabric are perfectly soft.

Net testing idea: put the calendared side in the bottom of the hammock and see how it does against mosquitoes. The top (skin) side is the same as standard fabric, so you shouldn’t notice a difference.

Technically, it should work for a hammock just fine. Only one side will look like a trash bag. If you have enough length, you could make a double layer and have the calendared side facing inwards. I still have a few yards calendared 1.0oz HyperD from the days it was only available calendared, but I decided to make insulation with it.

    For the record... It's horrible.

I had some time this afternoon so made the hammock using the calendared fabric. Way too crunchy for me.

If I didn't already have a Hyper D 1.6 (full bug net) I might not mind it but everything I love about this fabric is lost to the calendering.

I've made this mistake too. I did exactly what Hutzlbein said, doubled it up with the calendered side to the inside. I've never really noticed a difference. It just bothers ME because I KNOW it's not exactly what I wanted... I had the opposite experience to MikekiM in that I don't think you'd know unless I told you it wasn't the right fabric.

I knew it the moment I touched it. I have no interest or need for a DL hammock. Already placed the order for the fabric i need.

    Live and learn.
