This year I took the deep dive into the Cuben rabbit hole (yeah, I still can't get accustomed to Dyneema Composite Fabric.. it's Cuben). Two HG tarps, multiple stuff sacks, Arc Blast... yep.. it's like crack cocaine.
This past weekend I was out using the HG Standard with doors. Coming from a 12' SilPoly tarp with doors and a pole mod I was concerned the Standard would be too small. It's not. And, I also worried that it would get damaged easily.
Just before sunset, with plenty of daylight remaining, I tripped over one of the ground corner guy lines (z-Packs 1.2 Reflective Z-Line with Tarp Worms tied to the stock beastie with a double loop of regular Z-Line). I nailed it hard as my foot got snagged. I heard that 'twang'. Took a bit of header all the while hoping 1) please let the gutter nail I was using as a winter stake pull out and 2) if the gutter nail holds, please let one of my knots collapse. Nope.. none of the above. The knots in the Z-Line held and the gutter nail didn't budge.
I was so pleasantly surprised that there was no damage to the tarp. Nothing. Great job Hammock Gear!!
I'm not going to abuse the cuben as a result, but it's comforting knowing the working limits are above the beating I threw down on that guy line.
