    Hello from Arizona

    Hi All,
I'm a long distance backpacker, Mom, rancher, ex horse trainer (20 years endurance) and I'm an artist. I'm 60 and retired. I just got into hammocking, loving the comfort and love the learning curve! ;-) I have been using a Dutchware Chameleon, UGQ Zepplin and EE 3/4 underquilts along with my Sierra Sniveller TQ. I live by the Huachuca Mountains and am hoping to attend the local hang if it happens. I have done the PCT five times, the CDT once, and the AZT SOBO which I helped to mark, tread and build for 30 years. I am looking for suggestions on more long trails to explore in the USA that offer trees and water, haha. And yes I am planning on hiking the AT.

Go to SW trips there you will find folks who hang, tent, hike and more. There is a spring and fall gathering. This year the Hachuacas in spring and yearly Long Valley on the Rim. Some even go to the SoCal hang above lake Elsinore in April.

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. While I love the desert (I lived in Arizona for a few years), I sure do appreciate the number of trees we have here in the Northeast!

You've got one heck of a lot of experience in the outdoors, and your gear list is already impressive. I'm near your age and sort of semi-retired, and since I live in Georgia the AT is also in my sights, though more for section hiking than thru hiking the thing. My daughter is out in Arizona and sends me impressive photos of the scenery out there. Welcome to the forums.

Wow, you sound like a fascinating person! Look forward to meeting you at the Spring Hang. It'll be a very short drive for you!!
