    Daisy chains and tree huggers

I’m wondering if I could attach the spider daisy chains to the spider tree huggers... it seems silly to me to buy a long enough daisy chain to go around a tree when a tree hugger could do that job. You would save some weight, then just attach the daisy to the hugger. I prefer to use atlas straps, because of the ease and the Dutch daisies seem like the perfect way to save weight. Has anyone tried this? Would it work? Or am I missing something?

One issue could potentially be when the size of the tree changes you would need to adjust your huggers so that the links are accessible. You would need to use something like Adutchable clips or carabiners with a girth hitch knot.

That’s only going to happen with small trees. Just double wrap the tree or just leave the huggers in your pack for those hangs. This is a great idea and I wonder if you could take it a step further and ask Dutch to sew the two together. Because even in that scenario, you could just use the one of the loops in the daisy portion instead and leave the hugger portion dangling by the tree.

Yes, this is my set up also. I love trees and didn't like the way 1" straps damaged thin barked species (I'm coming back as a majestic oak in my afterlife. I have 2" wide huggers 6 ft. long with sewn loops at both ends. I wrap them leaving just a short tail hanging and then larks head my 5 ft. long daisy chains through one of its own loops to that. daisys.jpg

I have the HG spider daisy chain and it’s really light and flexible. It’s not like a standard strap. It seems to conform to the bark better vs. standard webbing. It’s so light I have 6 feet on each side and it’s still lighter than one of my old straps.

I have a Spider piece of hardware and I have something called Spider webbing along with Spider Daisy Chain Webbing. The Spider webbing can be made into huggers or straps. And the daisy chain webbing can be cut to length.
Just to add to the confusion, the hardware spider cannot be used with spider webbing.
