I was hoping to explore the Chicamoula but Mr. Husband dislocated his shoulder (again) this past Saturday on the last rapid....so no paddling of any kind of water for a while. Tai chi workshops, here we come. Have fun guys.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Maybe Mr. Husband should stay away from those class 17 rapids in the future!

Hopefully we'll see you guys soon.

Trip Note: What do you guys think of doing group soup on the Saturday night (Fr.Cdn.P soup), leaving the balance of the nights to byof?

Sounds great Chard. Let us know what ingredients to bring ... Let us share the weight of some of those cans, it's a long portage!

Just back from the OxTongue Outfitters store ..... had to wade through a couple of feet of snow to get to the canoe I wanted to look over, and that was in a low snow area.

The Lake there is solid, locals figure a slow defrost and they have snow in the forecast in the next few days.

I am still hoping my May 8th entry will happen, but it really looks like this may slip .... since you guys are in at the same time and place, just sharing.

The beauty of Fr.Cdn.P.Soup (FCPS) is that we just need a wee bag of peas, a couple of onions, a pinch of herbs and spices, a walloping smocked ham hock and a pot to cook it in. Rest assured I'll offer to carry the spices.

Note. Remember to keep said peas dry.

FCPS sounds great. I just rented one of the 33lb prospectors from the portage store for the trip.

How many are we so far? Do we need more than 1 campsite?

Well, as far as I can tell so far, we have four (Chard, Ggreaves, Keewaykeno, BigGreenMoose) who've expressed an interest.

It's always handy to have a spare permit just in case and it doesn't cost any more. See if anyone's heading in before Friday May 10th. Keewaykenobi was talking about extending into mid-week so he might want to be the one getting another permit. Otherwise, go for it.

Crazy idea, but with a small group like this, how about one stove, one pot, one axe, one saw, one tarp and no matches or lighters (smokers excepted or there'd be a riot)? I'll draw the line at the Adventures Archives dude's one fork and one bowl.

Ggreaves is bringing a mystery pal, Bubba hinted he's free the second weekend & I'd be shocked (& disappointed) if Giblets & 76Highboy didn't make an appearance ... so we're getting close to a second permit. I'll happily do that but just holding off a bit to better assess the date of ice-out. Seems likely to be late again this year, permit issuance has already been bumped back to May 3rd.
