so, when I went to get my canoe on friday at opeongo... they said that they opened up the backcountry 20 minutes ago. We were already set up at rock lake and I didn't have my lightweight stuff so we stayed put. But when we told people the backcountry was now open, a bunch of people high tailed it out of there, got permits and headed in. We got skunked fish wise - my buddy caught a nice smallmouth that will be good eating when someone catches it again in june. all this to say, if anyone wants to head in even earlier - you can go now.

I am planning on heading in bright and early Thursday Morning, heading out leisurely on Sunday.
