Welcome from one newbie to another I'm in NW NJ.
I just took out my WB RidgeRunner first time this Saturday. Just spent some time playing with the suspension (had Dutchware 5" spider straps, whoopie slings and regular loopy straps - forgot their official term), and getting a feel for general height and head/foot angle. I learned quite a bit, and look forward to another practice session before my first official hang with MY setup in April

Take some time to play with your hammock system before you do a big night out is my recommendation!

Let us know how it goes!

Gotta love the outdoor community. From the hiking clubs to the paddle clubs,
Winter trekkers and now hammock hangers.
I’m originally a Queens boy ( yea Queens Rocks according to the Ramones) hehe
Moved out east to Long Island so the kids could play on grass and not
Cement like I did. Bad knees now with one replacement.

Have to say that over the last 15 years I have bribed many a trekkers with
Some NY bagels! Now everyone loves me and makes sure I get home safely.

Last trip was a batch of potato Knishes! Haha. Ask dirtbagger

Light weight? For ged abow dit!
Teaching in Queens NYC little kids I set up tents, bring in snow shoes and melt s’mores
On the school radiators! All thanks to Outdoor ideas.
Hope to meet up and enjoy the great outdoors!
Thanks for ideas before going out, already cut some branches in yard
To make room for the tarp.
Ummm, didn’t tell da wife yet. Eek! Is there a thread somewhere about
Excuses? Health and happiness. Typing this sitting in
Bumpa to bumpa traffic on the expressway.

I always had an interest in canvas tents myself, but only for camping in the snow. I so much enjoy packing lighter and more compact. I remember seeing old photos of my Grandpa's station wagon with this massive Army surplus tent on the roof. It must have been a beast to set up.
Tyroler, What part of Westchester are you from? I am assuming Grandpa went to Camp Read in the summer with the scouts. Many a good memories of Camp Read for me. I am from Yonkers originally, now NNJ. I missed the big canvas 8x10 tents we used at camp so much that I went out and bought one for my winter hot tent setup.

BTW Welcome Coldfeet. How did you get that name anyway?

First let me say that electbc not only brings a hot tent set up with wood stove but also hangs at the same time. Nice Massachusetts trip.

If I recall correctly around 2002? I signed up on the Backpacker website. Everyone had cool names, I had to pick something I wouldn’t forget. Well I couldn’t type some bad names that I deserved at times (sorry honey) so I wrote about having “coldfeet” because of poor circulation. Think it’s called Raynauds syndrome. I usually use toe warmers in the late fall and while winter.
I wore electric socks on the subway once in the 80’s and I thought I stepped on the third rail they were so hot! Never again after that. Think I bought them from Herman’s. Remember that sporting good chain?
