One of these days, I want to try hammock hike&camp. Now I’m a car camper, with only some laughable attempts at hike in camping—going wrong way on loop trail to John Rock and making two trips, with all my food left at car until lunch second day!
Wishing and dreaming will only take me so far—improving by doing several short hike&camps is my best bet.
Weaknesses: navigation, overpacking food, gear and water-no water filter yet. And use of perishable foods rather than packaged dehydrated and or freeze dried foods. General conditioning...

Sometimes I have issues with getting the hang just right other then that I think I'm good to go!
Finding time for all the things I want to do.
THIS ^^^^^^
Dreams are quite vivid and I swear I screaming out-loud sometimes.
The last holdouts for me
- consistently getting my foot end high enough.. seems no matter how high I put it I always slide to that end.
- Cold feet.. Likely a result of sliding to the foot end and having my feet higher than my head. Circulation is hindered and my feet get cold no matter what i do.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Isn't it funny how we all have similar experiences?
This is a fear I have with the new Greylock 4 because I am not using a secondary suspension....yet it never seems to happen.
The first thing i do is pull my hammock fabric out of it's hole and then check that left shoulder which always seems to be covered with a bit of a reassuring tug. This is also the point where the pillow gets stuck behind my shoulders. Takes about 3 pulls to unlodge it whilest I do 1/4 mini sit-ups to help free it.
Some days I lazy tube my hammock & UQ then throw it in in my gear closet and other days I just leave it deployed depending on the weather.
The UQ never slips when i come back each night or redeploy it from the gear closet.
This morning....38° was the low.

"...in Florida, she felt air conditioning for the first time, and it was cold and unnatural upon her skin."
Lol! At least that's not happened on my TQ (yet).
Last night I put about 8-10" 3/32 shock cord loop on the hammock tie-outs. One one the left shoulder and one at the right side feet. I staked these out using a couple extra 5' guy lines, clipping the guys to the shock cord loops using tarpworms.
The UGQ underquilt has a clip at the head end that very nicely matches the location of the hammock tie out of the DH Sparrow. So I also snapped the quilt clip to the shock cord at my shoulder.
At the foot I fed the shock cord loop through the UQ's mini-beastie to the hammock tie out clip. Voilá, no more sliding off the shoulder and feet.
Without the shock cords it's way too easy to pull the stakes when sitting in the hammock.
(No nudging dreams last night!)
