    Hammock Tent 90 tarp question

I recently picked up a 1.0 Beta from Luke, sadly I was only able to get two nights of use out of it. I want to use it for backpacking, but my current tarp won't come close to covering it. I can't afford the DCF one that's made by Zpacks, but I want to make my own silpoly version. Does anyone have the rough dimensions of the tarp? I only need how wide the ridgeline is, and how long/tall it is when staked out on the ground.

And for any tall guys using it, do you use the full inflatable pad? are there any mods to make it slightly better for side sleeping?

    Thanks!

It's about a 7' ridgeline, and 11.5 wide if I remember correctly. You could look on amok website at their tarp. They give dimensions of theirs and that would work. There's is 8'ridge I think. If I wasnt looking for doors, I might just buy one of their tarps. It'll work fine.

My 90* tarp I had Jared at SLD make for me

It would have been easier with only two tieouts at both head and foot ends and a 7' ridgeline instead of the 8'. I really like the doors with 3 snaps, top, bottom, and one in between. The yellow marks indicate the doors. image.jpeg

If you want more cover then that, Warbonnets Superfly is reccomended for Amok Draumr by several people. You can take a look at their site (either for buying or for inspiration for DIY).

I'm 6'4". the only thing i would suggest is getting a 11 foot Hammock with a ridgeline. That way you have a consistent diagonal lay each time. Sorry not too familiar with the 1.0 Beta. As for a Tarp. I was going to go the DIY route but found that it would be cheaper because of time spent making it. I ended up getting the DD hammock Tarp 3.5 x 3.5 MC. Ended up saving money actually.

Hmm. One of the benefits of the 90 degree is the versatility in tree spacing. I've gone narrowest of around 7ft to 20' in the past. Not sure I'd recommend a tarp with such a long ridgeline, unless the goal is a big tarp??

yup, the perpendicular hammocks with shorter ridgelines definitely let you hang between close trees, yet still let you hit up 15-20 foot gaps if need be

I've actually done at least three hangs of 25-30', e.g between the steel trusses on my 30x40 steel building. The suspension needs to be a ways above the tarp suspension to accommodate the hammock sag. But in a pinch it can, and was, done.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try to do a clone of the original tarp because I like the idea of it being able to pitched on the ground if I absolutely have to. I've only done a few DIY projects so I'm excited to tackle this one. I think I'll also do the 7ft ridgeline in case the trees are spaced closely.
