    Im stuck

Hello friends. Ive been stuck for 3 days now trying to make the decision on mini fly vs thunder fly. I keep going back and forth and watching shugs video 100 times. Help me decide
A little about me. New hammocker buying gear so im getting a little cash strapped so the minifly wins it there. But being new im scared of not having enough coverage in the rain

    Thanks

I've had nothing but an Edge hex tarp for several years in all sorts of weather. It has been all i need, even though it has less coverage than either of the newer *Fly tarps.

You will be fine with either tarp. The price delta is no that different. $50.00 between the cheapest option and the most expensive option. So depending on what options you are really looking at that difference may not even be that much. So go for the one you want. If money is tight. Save up the difference for another month. They will still be available.

Hi! I'm also a new hammocker and can commiserate with the cash strapped sensation. my solution was to buy a cheap hammock tarp from Amazon. it's now been setup in the back yard continuously for the last three months through rain, snow, wind and sun and is still in great shape. will it wear out sooner than a more expensive tarp, yes it will, but it buys me time to refill the hammock piggy bank. when the time comes to buy the better tarp I can retire this one to covering patio furniture. just my 2 cents worth.

    Personally I love my Superfly
More coverage is better in the Northeast at least (for me)
Either way he makes great stuff

This is a pretty good idea, especially if you're just starting out and not sure about things. To the original poster, you could buy a cheap tarp close to the minifly size and see if it fits your coverage needs.

Personally, I own the superfly and thunderfly. Love both and bought the thunderfly when I wanted to cut some weight for milder weather. I prefer porch mode as often as possible and felt the thunderfly had that little bit of extra coverage on width that I didn't have to be as particular pitching just right.

True. I would recommend going for the one that provides the most coverage as you can never go wrong with coverage.

Bit more space so more forgiving for someone new to the tarp life.
