1 time was all it took w/ sideways rain, my down getting soaked and my weekend ruined to realize I would NEVER use a small or doorless tarp ever again. Doors can always be tied back. A few more ounces and a few more $$ to have peace of mind.

Experience has done the same for me when it comes to stakes. MSR Groundhogs for me from now on.

I don't have either of these tarps I do dream of a MountainFly though and I bought my Chinook thinking I would buy big and downsize later some 8 years later and I still don't own a smaller tarp.
