When I read about the "Hennessy" knot, I thought, "No way." and quickly found a YouTube video that showed how using two rings could pinch/hold the line for easy adjustment. The problem I have with knots is, at this stage of the game, I still have to make adjustments after the hammock is initially put up - length/shorten the suspension or change the height on the tree.
From the two ring "pinch" method I move to webbing but got bitten by the Amsteel bug and quickly became a continuous loop/dogbone/soft-shackle/whoopie-sling making fool. But I found the whoopie sling required too much extra tree distance. And it was a pain to milk the bury in cold freezing temperatures.
So I moved to daisy chains. They were fine for a while, but sometimes the gap between loops was just too big a step. So I made some amsteel loops that I could fold/adjust to create a "half-step" between daisy chain loops.
This summer, just for something different, I think I'll go back to webbing. It's secure and easy to adjust. But if I find myself fussing over micro adjustments with the webbing, I'll go b back to daisy chain. It is so easy to put the hammock suspension at the same height at both ends, then just drop the head end down one loop in the daisy change to get the foot end just the right amount of "higher".
