Can anyone recommend a 12'+ hammock? Friend is looking to get into hammocking, but at 6'11" I don't think an 11' hammock will do. Also have to endure a lot of weight. He's 300+ pounds.
Thanks in advance.

Have him check out the Simply Light Designs Trail Lair. Jared offers a 12' option. He does fully custom work, and ships extremely fast.

several yrs ago Papa Smurf of Dream Hammock made me a 13ft 90in wide double, so my large buffalo hide would lay in it, and would accomidate couple people easily toe to toe. it remains most comfortable hammock. Got it when I got his first production Dangerbird, which remains tied with WL night owl, all have big sweet spot. He makes excellent gear. Might have friend contact them. it was a special order, but size, comfort and weight capacity still the best I've encountered.

I would almost bet that most of our vendors would work with you on a custom hammock
Second vote for SLD. In fact, you don't even need to make it the top of the line Trail Lair. Any of Jared's hammocks can be ordered as 12 footers, and that's not even really a "custom" option. It's just an option available on the pull-down menu when you're spec'ing out an order. It's completely true that Jared will custom the heck out of the products he sells if you contact him, but if it's just a 12 footer you're looking for, it's not really a special order, and you can order straight from the website.
For someone that tall, a wide fabric might be a good idea, too. Hexon 1.6 is available in wide (XL) and a single layer of that fabric is rated for 350 lbs.
Double-layers also available on pretty much everything, for extra weight insurance for heavier hangers.

If you really want comfort and size is needed. go with TTTM they have a "perfect" size and a Mammock Size. THESE ARE NOT SMALL HAMMOCKS! I can fit 5 adults in my Mammock. Not amazing for a camping hammock but awesome for lounging and picnics.
4 yards of hyper D 1.6 XL will make a 12x6 hammock. That's what I'm currently using and I'm only 6'. I like room to move around at night. The hard part was finding a tarp to fit it under but with a SRL I can comfortably fit it under a 12' tarp.
Thanks folks. Trying to help out a friend. At 6'11" and 300+#, there is a reason he is called "Bigfoot."
