Question Whipped Hammock "Frilly End" Covers?

I've been doing experiments with whipped hammocks recently and want to deal with an ongoing annoyance: The frilly puff on the ends.

Has anyone got a technique for covering or managing the puff?

You could make a small sock to cover it.
I have always likes the frill. Easy to hang a UQ on.
But did think about a lil' sock to cover it.

I made post a long time ago about whipping the ends and flipping them inside out. The end result is a knob that resembles the channel gathered ends if you like that look more.
The Hennessy style hammock has a sock for the end like what Shug was talking about.

If it's "frilly" that annoys you, maybe some duct tape? There's lots of colors and patterns available to suit your style but traditional grey is about as anti-frilly as it gets.

Maybe a lighter held close enough to melt the frill? Whipped and fused.

I usually have the whipping cord run around the ends over about 5". That takes care of most of the frillyness. But you could always do a Warbonnet-type whip; that looks even cleaner.

    Lightbulb Inverted Hammock Bun

@LostCause: thanks for the tip. That worked beautifully.

No extra materials or modifications required. Completely reversible. More secure. Looks tidy. Hides mistakes. Extremely simple.

The only downside is that i think it tightened up the center a bit. Easy to compensate for.

    Here is what I did:

Whipped tablecloth hammock using plain old Western Country Whipping with cheap nylon cord.

Take the entire frilly whipped end and roll it "inside out" (underneath itself).

Push the wad of fabric as far into the end as it will go and gather into a bun.

Install continuous loop directly behind the bun.

Unlike Warbonnet, this bun style has no center, so you cannot put a SRL through it.

Glad it worked out for you.
It would not be a SRL, but you can add a ridgeline. When I employed this method I chose an adjustable version that used two small carabiners.

I tied the whipping in a way that left line out of the top of the whipped end.
One side had a short end with a loop tied in the end. The other had a long end ( about the length of the hammock body) with a loop tied in that end. I clipped a biner on the short end loop. About midway up the long line i wrapped the line multiple times around the body of the biner opposite of the gate. I then ran the line through the short end biner gate and then attached the loop of the long end on the biner that was mid way up the ridgeline.
The mid biner was able to slide up and down the line for adjustments when the hammock was unloaded and the one on the end prevented cord on cord friction.
There are other (probably better) methods to adding a ridgeline to a hammock when using this method of whipping but I hope this explanation might get some creative ideas going.

I don't understand why there isn't a center to pull a SRL through(?) All you did was to turn the gather inside out. The channel should still exist. And I don't under stand how adding a ridgeline couldn't be a SRL.

There is no sewn channel. The gather is not "inside out" as much as it is "rolled over". (A bit hard to explain). I'm sure i can jimmy something to work with a bit more experimentation. But i don't always want a SRL anyway.
