Issues with UCR slipping/creeping through out the night.

I like the concept of the UCR and want to use it on a new Bishop bag set-up. However, I have had issues with my current set of UCR's slipping and gradually loosening through the night. While laying in the hammock, if you place you ear on the tensioned fabric you can hear the popping of the UCR as it slips fiber by fiber. This is a little nerve racking as it sounds like the fibers are breaking. Sometimes, the whole thing will give way and drop you an 1" or 3" before it grabs again. Either way not much fun. By morning I am much closer to the ground and have a couple of times been low enough that the UQ is resting on the ground.

Do you have any ideas to improve load capability of the UCR?

    Current design:
7/64" Amsteel (Not looking for a solution of increasing the diameter of the Amsteel. Want to use the supplies I have.
    10" Burry
Prussic knot on the bury tag end.

I'll try and post pictures of what I have.

It need a little line to hold the UCR from slipping.
Look at 7:11 in the video below.

Some info/advice from experienced users here.

I tried 'em once as an alternate to whoopies and personally didn't care for them... as you did, I found them to slip and did not fully appreciate that the unloaded ends need some sort of anchor. Without securing the unloaded end, even a light brush from the edge of my tarp released them.

I also tried UCR but went back to whoopie. If the tail isn't tensioned and let's go, I found that it results in a quick and total let down. If it is gradually slipping just a bit throughout the night, I would suspect you need a longer bury length. That's just from my limited and not so successful experience.

I tie a slippery half hitch in the tag end right up next to the bury on UCRs. I only use them on my gear hammock/chair and my Tensa 4 stand but have only had the chair slip when I forget to tie off the end. Also, I find I need to "milk" UCR buries a lot more than whoopie slings.

Been using them for years made following fallkniven's tutorial. I use the same bury as Samson specifies on their whoopie sling sheet, I think around 8-3/4" for 7/64" Amsteel. Never, ever had them slip. Yes, the bury takes a concentrated effort to be sure it's milked properly but it's not that difficult.

I wish I could be more help, but I haven't seen a problem with them slipping. Maybe the longer bury is more difficult to milk properly and that causing your issues??

Thank you for the replies. I've mikled the bury, had a tag end tied back... etc. Here is a close up of the end of the bury... could be I did not have enough tension.

One plus about the Whoopie is the load in the line is halved so the pull load through the bury is half that of a UCR.

That prusik MUST be tied right at the exit of the bury! Looks like you made it with a spliced loop so that will be difficult. Wouldn't hurt if the knot was tied tighter as well, but the loops not helping much with that either.

+1 to everything stated here. However, I primarily only use true UCR's on the Tensa 4 ridgeline and foot anchor.

    I agree all of above
    Longer or long enough bury
    Tight prusik
Milk bury both directions so it is tight
Also some amsteel has a softer feel than other amsteel—and it might be too slick to use
And you can put a slip knot an inch from bury exit in amsteel that is the inside rather than sheath
Slip knots are directional—the slippery part should be towards tag end. If UCR slips, I believe it will only slip one inch—slip knot too big to be pulled into bury
    Good luck
