    Warbonnet Superfly Question

Hello, everybody! Hope all is well.

I just recently ordered my first hammock and am very excited! I shifted my research into tarps now. I'm looking at buying a Warbonnet Superfly, however I'm not sure what size is suitable for me. I bought a 11' Dream Hammock Sparrow. Does that mean I'll be catching some weather if I also get an 11' tarp? Weight is ideally kept at a minimum, but I figured a secure and safe night sleep is probably a better idea than saving a few ounces. What do you guys/gals think?

I want something that can sustain winter camping, but also be feasible for the other 3 seasons. I will be doing mostly bike touring/ bike camping, so if I can keep my bike (somewhat) safe from the elements as well, that would be a huge bonus. I also won't have any trekking poles, so if I want to go porch mode or half porch mode, that is up to what is in the surrounding area.

I use an 11' Superfly with all my 11' hammocks. Never been wet. You'll be good as long as you center your hammock under the tarp and pitch the tarp correctly.
    Carry forth.

I've been out in a rainstorm so heavy it would have kept me up in bed at home. Superfly kept me dry as could be.

Same here. With wind. The superfly is an awesome tarp.

+1. Can't go wrong with the Superfly! Warbonnet makes quality gear as a whole. As Shug said, you'll be fine with the 11ft hammock. It sags(my ridgeline is 110inches), so it is not really 11ft when hung.

11' foot hammock & 11' tarp... I used the Superfly for a season or two.. no issues with an 11' hammock.
Remember, the structural ridge line shortens the flat length of the hammock so you should have a good six inches tarp overhang at each end.

I tried 12' tarps for a season and ultimately went back to 11's.

Have the 2QZQ internal pole pockets sewn into the Superfly and get a center pole... you'll love the spacious cavern created by the pole!!

Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Warbonnet does the center pole pockets these days. So, if you choose to purchase a SF new, no need to have a second vendor modify it for you. Don't want to take any business away from 2QZQ as they have a rep for great work and service. Certainly the folks to consider for updating existing equipment that lacks desirable features.

Another +1 for the Superfly. Of my 4 tarps, it's my go to most of the time. It's worth the extra weight to me to have the doors there just in case even in nicer weather and for a little privacy if needed. Definitely go ahead with one of the pole mods to get the extra room. You can decide if you want to carry the weight on each trip out. Internal or external will be up to you. I've never had a pole break and mess up a tarp, but have heard that it can happen. That being said, I like cavern that the internal poles make of a tarp for I'm not being a gram weenie.
