Put it near the top of the list. There's lots of video to look at for this trail as well, including a thru hike by Shug and Hickery, Neemor's trip, and others.

This was already one of my favorite campsites.
If you’re planning to hike this trail, you’ll want to camp here.

    FTC Volunteers Upgrade another Campsite
On a drizzly Saturday morning ( 2/23 ) that most folks would choose to sleep in, 17 hardy FTC volunteers hiked in to upgrade another campsite area on the Foothills Trail. Led by Andrew Gleason, FTC Maintenance Coordinator, and assisted by veteran FTC maintainers, Jerry Harvey and Steve Pagano, the volunteers carried in lumber, tools, and other materials to a well-used campsite not far from Virginia Hawkins Falls. They removed ugly fire ring debris, installed several benches, placed a metal fire-ring / grill, erected a bear bag cable system, and put in a sign post for the “ Virginia Hawkins Campsite “. Many thanks to them for a job well done!!

Been a little while since I've posted on the old Hammock Forum. I had to chime in about the great Swampfox and his excellent assistance.

Anybody considering hiking the foothills should definitely rely on the Swampfox data files. They were so helpful to us when we hiked the foothills in Oct. 2017.

Swampfox was extra helpful in clearing up some misconceptions we had, making suggestions about route, and who to use for a shuttle. The maps and data files he has are arguably "the authoritative resource" for using on the FT.

Those new campsites are intriguing. May have to do a followup hike in reverse direction.

Thanks again, Swampfox. You made our trip so much better!

Stepping off on the FHT on 3/13/19 thanks to swampfox for the information provided in this thread and to TAZ who will be shuttling me! Wish I was closer so I could utilize this resource on a more regular basis. Hoping to find some potential Trout fishing areas that would only be a half to one day hike in from a trail head for another trip up there this fall. Suggestions welcomed!!

Pigpen Falls is about 1.5 miles north of the Nicholson Ford Road Access point. The Chattooga River and Chattooga River trail break off from the FHT at that point. There are some excellent campsites down the CRT and fishing too. It’s about an hour hike from Nicholson Ford Road to some good camping, right on the Chattooga River. The camps are marked on my GPX file.
Flintstone Camp is my favorite. (Stone furniture)
