Most important to me was the fabric. This was totally evident after trying so many.

Next is the length...I didn't notice a big difference, so I went with a 10.5' to split the difference and put my indecisive mind at ease.

I am 5ft 5 in. and prefer an 11 over my 10's.It's more comfortable.I prefer 12 foot tarps but have been in tight places where I was lucky to be carrying an 11 footer.

Another benefit of 11' hammocks is more "head room" if you have to ride out a storm and hide from mosquitoes for a day. I was happy I had my 11' Dream Hammock instead of the 10' Warbonnet that afternoon in the Winds.

I’ve slept comfortably in my 10’ Hennessy and in my 11’ SLD Trail Lairs. I find it easier to be flat in the 11. I’m 5’7” and 175 for reference. One poster noted and I’ll reiterate that the fabric and stretch makes as much difference as the length. I found I really like the firmness of heavier material.

If you can try out a few.

I'm 5'11", and I prefer 11' hammocks. I can make 10' hammocks work, but they are just not as comfortable as an 11' for me. I actually find 12' hammocks even more comfortable than 11' hammocks, although I use an 11' hammock for camping and backpacking.

I recently purchased two 11' Dream Hammock Sparrows for my wife and I. We are both in the 5'4"-5'6" range. I was going to order 10 footers but Deanna recommended we go for the 11' models. Her reasoning was that she is 5'4" and she is far more comfortable in the 11 footers. HYOH

I actually decided to give one of these a try.

I've got a cheap hammock that I've used for just general hanging....I think this one will replace that.

If you haven't placed your order yet, I am roughly your size and have a Dutch 10.5' hammock with duel knotty mods, and it fits me perfectly. I sleep on my side and stomach inside it, and the knotty mods really help.

I finally spend a night in my ENO. What are they, like 9.5'? It was dooable, but I still prefer the 11' Dutch I have.
