Hamock, Tent or Hammock Tent which do you prefer?

Hey all, just joined the forum and am an avid hammock camper, I have multiple camping hammocks, including a full ENO set up along with the Tentsile Flyte Hammock Tent.

Here’s a quick video I put together a while ago comparing the various options. Let me know what you guys think

Welcome to the forums. Spend some time around here and you'll find the right way of staying warm and sleeping in a hammock

All personal preference and a lot depends whether you camp near the car or are on the trail for days at a time. My preference is a simple gathered end hammock. Lightweight, cheap, simple setup and comfortable.

Honestly I prefer my hammock over my tent, however sometimes for a family trip we will haul out the 10 person cabin, and all 5 million pounds of glamping stuff...air mattress, frying pans. Chairs, you name it we bring it.....I am leaning more and more lately to ditching that stuff in exchange for my lovely hammock tho!!!

I've gone back and forth a few times. Right now I have been doing some fast and light type backpacking and the simplicity of a tent has got me favoring that. Especially in the cold, I've had more cold nights in the hammock than in the tent.

I am very biased, but I made my hammock tent because I loved the idea of it. In the end, whatever gets you out there.

I’m not anti-tent. But the last few times, I didn’t get a good nights sleep.

I slept in my eno car camping and decided to get one to take backpacking. It’s just more comfortable.

I’m sure I will take my tent again eventually, but i’d Rather not.

Feel the same way, I much prefer the Hammock but it all depends on the trip your are on. Not gonna bring a Hammock on a sea kayaking trip for instance, but I will opt for my eno hammock set up for solo use or the tentsile when with the lady.

I prefer Hammock. I hate getting up and down off the ground. However, sometimes tents are required. Group, Family, Hammocks not allowed, etc.

I think they both definitely work for me in different situations aside from the obvious ones (no hammocks allowed, no suitable trees in the desert/mountains, etc).

I switched to a hammock do to an injury in which sleeping on the ground was ruining my time out camping. Now that that has gotten better and I am able to sleep on the ground I do switch it up. Lightweight backpacking where hanging situation isnt known forsure = tent. Anything below 15F i bring a tipi and wood stove (together weigh 6.5 lbs) as i love warming up before bed/in the morning/if ive been out in the rain. And as my dog is always with me I feel more secure knowing shes comfortable and warm in the tent at those temps.

But pretty much all other instances I hammock! Nothing beets how good I sleep or feel in the morning like a good hang. Either the dog sleeps in a pup tent under my tarp or in the hammock with me.
