Solution to keeping my UQ in place.

My UQ was sliding around during the night so I looked for a solution. At first, I sewed a couple of inches of shock cord that I put into the clips on the sides of my Chameleon. That worked OK but they would still let the UQ slide around. I found little clips on Amazon and tried them out at Hangcon. Just one clip at the shoulder and another at the feet and the quilt stayed put all night.

The bonus is that I made a hammock and can use these clips on it, too.

What kind of UQ do you use? After you get it adjusted there shouldn't really be any opportunity for it to slide around. Get it tight enough to lift the hammock before you get in. After that, it should wrap you up like a taco with no chance of slipping off to the sides and definitely not up or down.

If you have a homemade UQ that is narrower or using a different kind of suspension, I guess that can change things.

I was using a JRB 20 degree UQ. It has grograin tabs sewn on. The problem may be that I'm using a wide hammock. In any case, these clips worked fine and are cheap.

If you ever find you need more, Dutchware sells the same clips at half that price. Plus a DWG purchase supports local small business and not the Amazon behemoth. Just sayin'... I shop at Amazon too, but no reason to overpay them.

Read a couple threads about this recently. Waiting on my quilts to arrive. Hoping to get them in time to spend a few nights in it before a trip to figure it out.

A few years ago I got a hammock from Little Shop of Hammocks and it came with 4 pack hooks sewn on both sides of the hammock and about a foot in from the ends. You just run your UQ suspension thru the pack hook. I have added this feature to all my hammocks. Due to the design of the Warbonnet Blackbirds, I only added the pack hooks to the entry side of the hammock. While this system is not 100% fool proof, it has greatly decreased the shifting of my UQ's and if they do shift it is minor and easy to readjust from inside the hammock. No extra parts to carry and it is a easy DIY mod.

I do exactly the same ^^^

Small mirco cord CL that is prussik'd to the foot end of the ridge line with a tiny EZ Mitten Hook in it. Clip the primary suspension on the UQ into the mitten hook.

I haven't found it necessary for the head end.

Both of my hammocks have exposed ridge lines (one is a Half Wit clone and the other has fully removable bug net). For the rare instance where I use the full bug net I don't use the mitten hook connection because.. well, if there are bugs out I am not likely to be worried about getting cold.

For hammocks with integrated net, this won't work because the ridge line is under the net and that's where Triangle Thingies would work perfect.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
