Attaching Double Hammock Whoopie Hook to an existing whoopie sling

I need to attach Double Hammock Whoopie Hook to whoopie sling. Is it necessary to make a new whoopie sling with Double Hammock Whoopie Hook permanently fixed on the loop or can I just use existing whoopie sling to attach the hook in the same way that Dutch Biner is attached to the blue amsteel (see the attached images)? Is the hole on the hook wide enough for this?

P.S. I'm just going to order the hooks...

I don't think the hole is big enough to do what you are suggesting. I know you can't do that with a regular Whoopie Hook - can't imagine why Dutch would make the hole larger on the Double Whoopie Hook. I think you'll be splicing.

Thank you SilvrSurfr, I'll know for sure once I have the hooks delivered, but on the photos the double whoopie hook hole looks bigger compare to the whoopie hook Maybe it's just an illusion. Then I'll be splicing

The hole in the double hook is large enough to do what you illustrated, at least with 7/64 Amsteel.

Since the hook will be girth hitched to the whoopie, I'd suggest doing this on the fixed eye of the whoopie rather than the adjustable loop. Otherwise every whoopie adjustment will require sliding and repositioning the girth hitch to make sure the hook is in the middle of the loop. Attaching the hook to the fixed eye takes away that minor issue.

I honestly don't know the full history and I'm only speculating here, but maybe the double hook came later and the hole was designed larger on purpose, for folks who already own single hook whoopie slings to be able to do just as suggested in this post, rather than buying or splicing a new whoopie.

If so, it's very refreshing that Dutch would have made that choice, as it's the kind of thing you'd never see done in the corporate world.

The hole is plenty big enough. You will want to do it to the locked Brummel end and not he adjustable end.

Just curious - why did you make the hole bigger on the Double Whoopie Hook? I have a couple of single Dutch Whoopie Hooks, and some Amsteel, and concluded it couldn't be done with them. The hole just doesn't seem big enough on the single Dutch Whoopie Hook.

When I came out with the DHWH it was had a little more of an aftermarket emphasis. Pulling it on continuous loops was what I thought people would do to add a spreader bar to any suspension.

Thank you Dutch! You're doing amazing things for us! I've already ordered DHWH and a spreader bar! I'm looking forward to testing it together with my 4 years old daughter. The only con is that I'm not in United States, so I need to pay more and wait longer...

I have been larksheading it to all kind of 7/64" AmSteel loops / dog bones / whoopie slings (fixed eyes only) for years, because I didn't want to buy a pair of Double Hammock Whoopie Hooks for each application. It works flawlessly.
