PA > Allegheny National Forest > Minister Creek > 7/26-7/28

As requested, I wanted to announce this hang as early as possible to allow folks to sort out their schedules in advance. This will be the fourth annual group hang at this location, a.k.a. MidHHA. Between the Minister Creek hiking loop and convenient creek access for fishing, there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied if you’re motivated to do more than just eat and snooze your way through the weekend (not that there’s anything wrong with that ).

As before, we’ll be camping a short ways off the trail leading south from the parking lot on Rt. 666 (directly across the road from the actual campground). This is essentially car camping, so those who are not of the hiking persuasion are able to join in the fun.

Whether you're a veteran hanger, newbie, ground dweller, or even you just want to drop by and check out what hammock camping is all about, ALL ARE WELCOME!

Any interest in a Friday float down the Allegheny? Tidioute to East Hickory? Would conditions be okay that time of year? Here on the Clarion if the water is low there are places you have to get out and walk.

That's right after our DC trip with the scouts but I'm gonna see if I can get that Friday off and make the whole weekend, possibly drag at least one of my kids along.

That might be fun. Conditions shouldn't be an issue. The water level on the Allegheny is controlled by the Kinzua dam, so it remains floatable virtually all year long. There are sporadic shallow spots, but they can usually be avoided.

I just signed the sheet as a PARTICIPANT (not just a party crasher) for this year.
