I have one that used as a TQ for a while and and now using as a large UQ since I needed a little lower rating on my TQ.

I use an unmodified CDT all summer. Packs small, vents great, weights a pound, gives some wiggle room in case a front comes in. Who needs a footbox when it's over 60*? Also, you could just pack along some light PJs and go without a quilt.

Snug Pak jungle blanket around $50.00, packs softball size. I do not like to be cold and this has worked into the fifties but also came off when i n the seventies. Synthetic so moisture is not a problem.

Maybe a couple of layers of insultex between nylon outer layers? It would be thin, light and really easy to make, but maybe actually a little warm since I think it's only "sort of" breathable.

...I've been looking around for some summer TQ options, including both MYOG or purchased gear...What other options should I be considering?

Surprising that nobody has mentioned poncho liners yet. On the rare summer hangs, I've found a poncho liner UQ and a poncho liner top quilt work well. The main advantages are cheap cost and tough construction. The disadvantage is weight. Mine are close to 20 ounces apiece. If you want to see them in action, they show up in a short video I made of a three day trip in north Georgia where night time temps were mid-60s. Link is below:
