need suggestions for Superior Hiking Trail trip for me and my dog.

To anyone who knows the SHT:

I am looking for suggestions on which trail heads might be a good choice for hiking about 2-3 miles in. I have 100lb Bernese Mountain Dog that loves the trail. I don't want to have her go for to long and I would have a heavier than usual pack since I will have additional gear.

The Split Rock loop trail would be perfect for you. TH right on the highway, so easy access. Not too far north, so don't have to drive too far. Variation: you can go up either side of the loop, or if you get ambitious do the whole loop. Great scenery.

Downside: this is a VERY popular loop. If you go during peak times, the parking lot can get crowded.

Have you checked out the Guide to the Superior Hiking Trail? It has a plethora of information, including trail segments and descriptions, campsite locations, distance between trail heads and campsites, where water sources are and even whether they are reliable in dry conditions etc. I have used it to plan countless backpacking trips!
